Moonee Valley Fillies Classic – 2020

Ten three-year-old fillies are set to line up over the 1600m in the $300,000 Fillies Classic.  Early favourite Ecumenical has been luckless this preparation and will appreciate a drop back in class.  If she can maintain her form then she is the one to beat.  Thermosphere has been good since making her way to Melbourne and draws a soft gate for gun jockey Damian Lane.

Incredulous Dream is backing up after her victory at Caulfield last week.  Yes Baby Yes comes through the same race, she finished second.  Miss Inbetween goes forward in her races and is yet to finish worse than second placing from her four starts this preparation.  Mussenphere won a maiden at Cranbourne last start but we have seen other horses come to town off maiden victories this spring and measure up.  The remaining horses are $20-1 or longer.

1. Thermosphere

She was a terrific winner of the Edward Manifold sitting three wide and fighting off the challengers.  Then a solid midfield effort in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas.  One of the chances.

2. Ecumenical

Has been luckless in her two Melbourne runs.  This is an easier race and if she can hold her form is the one to beat here.

3. Miss Inbetween

Honest filly who goes forward and makes her own luck.  Normally finds one or two better but needs to be considered for trifectas and first fours.

4. Incredulous Dream

Backing up after a good win at Caufield last week.   Barrier 1 could be tricky and this is harder.

5. Queen of Rocks

Kerrin McEvoy takes over the reins on Queen of Rocks.  She has limited ability and doubt she is capable of winning a race like this.

6. Yes Baby Yes

Finished second behind Incredulous Dream last weekend.  Been up for a while now but always runs an honest race.

7. Miss Conduct

She was ridden perfectly to win her maiden at Sale and then struggled behind some of these at Caulfield.  She needs to improve a long way, the blinkers may help.

8. Mussenphere

Lightly raced filly who will keep improving but this may be too much to ask early in here career.

9. Miss Madec

Fifth in a bench mark 58 at Kyneton last start.  This looks too hard.

10. La Marsa

Closed strongly at Ballarat and then ran out of room at Pakenham last Friday night.  Has talent but this is much harder than races she been contesting.
