Think Dark Wanderer, First Accused and Swoop Dog push forward and looks to assume control. Alpine Wolf, And Beyond and Rebel Factor have enough pace to find a positive position but likely settle midfield.

Mandela Effect, Vallabar and The Inevitable all settle at the rear.

1. The Inevitable – Rated Price $2.20

One to beat. Has returned super and won twice already this prep in impressive fashion. Gets a favourable weight swing here, but still faces a tricky map where he’ll need more than even luck to be winning.

2. Mandela Effect – Rated Price $41.00

Resuming. Can’t win.

3. First Accused – Rated Price $4.00

Main danger to the favourite. Has the map favours again and gets a great pilot for the assignment. Relishes wet ground and the trip. Box ticker.

4. Alpine Wolf – Rated Price $6.00

Arguably could have knocked off the favourite with clear air last start. Draws much nicer here to allow Gando to wind him up into the home bend. Looks the horse with that can improve sharpest.

5. Swoop Dog – Rated Price $26.00

Ran okay last start, don’t think this is any easier – looks unsuited.

6. Vallabar – Rated Price $101.00

Resuming off Darwin Cup campaign. Can’t win if it started now.

7. And Beyond – Rated Price $21.00

Camp is out of form and I don’t like him drawn inside other horses. Some hope at his best but likely gets a tricky run and will need nearly everything to go right to be beating the fancied runners.

8. Dark Wanderer – Rated Price $31.00

Average run last start, bit of a one-batter. Will give a sight up on speed, but likely more an obstacle than a threat to the favourite.

9. Rebel Factor – Rated Price $12.00

Another up-and-comer who brings a picket-fence with him. This is his hardest assignment to date but could give this a shake if he continues his upward spiral.

Tough to take on The Inevitable, but I just think he’s the wrong price given the amount that will need to go right for him in-transit to be finishing off best.

Alpine Wolf and First Accused look the best hopes to beat the fave, and I think the wolf looks the runner with the most upside going forward – particularly getting out in distance. And Beyond the blow out at his very best.
