The Burgess Queen Stakes is a Listed race over 1400 metres at Ascot. It is a set weights plus penalties race for three-years-old fillies run by the Western Australian Turf Club on Melbourne Cup day. It is the feature event of the meeting and has prizemoney of $125,000.

There is a field of 11 fillies for the $125,000 Burgess Queen Stakes with two sired by Maschino. Three runners had their last start in the Listed Belgravia Stakes over 1200m at Ascot on 22 October, and two in a Class One Handicap over 1400m at Northam on 13 October. Trainer Neville Parnham has three runners.
The early favourite is Amelia’s Jewel who is unbeaten in 4 starts and comes off a win in the Belgravia Stakes. Second favouritism is shared between Laced Up Heels who won over 1000m at Ascot last start and Vampi At Play who was runner-up over 1200m at Ascot on 8 October. Penny On The Queen finished 0.8 length 4th in the Belgravia, while Azena finished 6th in that race. The other runners are currently 20 to 1 or longer.

Resumed after 20 weeks to win a 1200m maiden at Ascot on 12 October. Placed at all 4 runs last campaign and can go on with the job.

Last start winner to break her maiden over 1200m at Ascot. Has placed ina trial since then. Not the worst.
7. Azena (5)
Has 2 wins from 4 races. Finished 6th in the Belgravia. Looking to others.

Prefer others.

Won a maiden at Northam then was a close 2nd over 1400m at Northam. She is better than her current price suggests.

Hasn’t raced at Ascot before. Prefer others.
