Anzac Day Stakes – 2022

A race over 1400 metres where the focus is on Miss Dunsford who brings in some quality form and gets the services of Jamie Kah. Next in the market is the lightly raced Tijuana coming off an impressive maiden win. Perfect Thought sparks interest on debut from the Sargent stable while Foreign Raider represents John Sadler with Jye Mcneil doing the steering. Overall a fairly open race and just a moderate tempo expected.

1. Tijuana (4)

Did things right on debut and polished off the win. Drawn to effect with barrier 4 and Mark Zahra aboard. Hard to line up the form but also hard to knock and maps to get the right run.

2. Alcedo (10)

No trials so using the market as a guide.

3.Bavicia (5)

Market is the best guide although drawn well and should have its chance from barrier 5.

4. Perfect Thought (9)

Liked the trials and this looks the value bet of the race. Needs a little luck from the draw but looks to have its fair share of quality and is a solid each way bet.

5. Skyphios (13)

Sound debut, the problem here is barrier 13 but with even luck in running it can figure in the finish.

6. Thermatic (6)

Didn’t show a whole heap on debut so I do prefer others here however it is worth staying weary of any market moves.

7. High Approach (3)

Needs to improve from its debut effort to take this out. Deserves to be longer odds.

8. Miss Dunsford (11)

The one to beat and looks to have the right form for this. Got home well last start so the 1400 looks very ideal. Sticky draw but Jamie Kah onboard and if it can find some cover it will be very hard to hold out late in the piece.

9. Reservoir Dog (2)

Going along okay and wouldn’t shock however I do prefer others here.

10. Foreign Raider (12)

Ran well on debut and can stalk the favourites back. Looks a solid chance in this.

11. Sirius Princess (1)

Use the market as the guide. Drawn well and can run a race.

12. Star Dame (8)

Market is the best guide to its chances with no trials to go off.

13. Aesculus (7)

Can’t have.
