Autumn Stakes Race Information
The Autumn Stakes is a 1400 metre set weights plus penalties race for three-year-olds run by the Melbourne Racing Club in February. It is run at Caulfield on CF Orr Stakes Day at the start of the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival.

Autumn Stakes Race History
The race was first held in 1968 as a Principal race when it was won by a horse called Anvil. It became a Group 3 in 1980, was downgraded to Listed from 1991 to 2004 and returned to Group 3 status from 2005 onwards. In some years it has been held over 1200m or 1600m but has been at 1400m since 2005 (and also in 1973 and 1976). It was previously known as the Schweppervescence Cup.
