Our Ascot Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

The feature race is the Miss Andretti Stakes (race 8)

Prince Devoutly (Ascot Race 7 No. 4)
This five-year-old gelding trained by Grant and Alana Williams has only had five starts, but has three wins and two places. He led all the way to win by 2.69 lengths over 1200m at Pinjarra Park on 2 June 2019, then following a 17 week spell he wound-up steadily and edged ahead for a 0.48 length win over 1000m at Northam on 30 September 2019. Returning from a long 67 week spell he won a recent trial at Lark Hill and is primed to win first-up

Each Way

Our Danni (Ascot Race 5 No. 3):
This three-year-old All American filly has three wins and four places from 14 starts. She took over at the 200m and went away for an easy 3.14 length win over 1000m at Ascot on 23 December, then took over at the 200m and held on for a narrow win over 1100m at Ascot on 2 January. All her wins have been at this track and she looks worth an each-way bet.

Best Lay

Mood Swings (Ascot Race 8 No. 8):
This War Chant filly is the early favourite in this 2YO Plate over 1100m. Like more than half of the field this will be her first race start. She has won two of her three trials but trial form doesn’t always show up on race-day and her price seems way too short.

Best Bets – Eagle Farm, 17 April 2021

A very tough nine race program at Eagle Farm with two Listed races as the winter carnival draws closer. We know what we get with this surface and it's already rated a Good 4, which will remain until raceday. Given the evenness of this program, we only have two bets as I couldn't find a 'next best'.  Let's hope this pair can salute at some nice odds. Junction (Eagle Farm Race 7 No. 5) This six-year-old Real Saga gelding trained by Mark Currie at Toowoomba has eight wins and 10 places from 35 starts. He didn't seem to like the heavy going when he finished 3.8 lengths 7th in the Listed Australian Turf Club Trophy over 1400m at the Gold Coast on 13 March, then was going well until hampered at the 150m and getting swamped late for 0.7 length 4th over 1400m
