Our Doomben Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

The Harrovian (Doomben Race 6 No. 1)
This Fastnet Rock gelding trained by Stephen Massingham at Cairns has won eight races in a row giving him a career record of 14 starts and 4 places from 27 starts. He wound up from the top of the straight and stormed down the outside to win the Cairns Newmarket over 1400m by 1.75 lengths on 28 August, then was slowly away and got held up but still managed a narrow win in an open quality handicap over 1400m at Eagle Farm on 3 October. Will be hard to beat.

Each Way

Grey Missile (Doomben Race 7 No. 7):
This six-year-old gelding trained by Toby Edmonds has 10 wins and 13 places from 35 starts. He has often carried big weights to win in North Queensland and has 5 wins at this distance. He finished last campaign with 1.25 lengths 2nd over 1300m at Gold Coast on 8 May then was spelled for 22 weeks. He resumed for 5.3 lengths 7th over 1200m at Doomben on 10 October, where he was crowded at the start, got back in running and was never a chance. He has won 4 from 5 second-up and can handle soft and heavy going so looks an excellent each-way bet.

Best Lay

So You Win  (Doomben Race 5 No. 3):
This six-year-old So You Think gelding is the early favourite in this BM 90 Handicap over 2040m. He was well back and never really got clear when 3.7 lengths 9th in the Group 2 Shannon Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill on 26 September, then didn’t run on when switched inside runners but did have the best 800m-400m race sectional when 7.7 lengths 8th in the Spring Mile over 1600m at Randwick on 17 October 2020. He needs to lift and doesn’t represent value.

Horse Racing Tips: SA Wednesday 29th May 2024

Key Comments The track is currently soft and the rail is +1.5 metres from the winning post to the 1500m, +3 metres from the 1200m to 400m and true for the remainder. Best Bet Our Glamour Girl (Strathalbyn Race 2 No. 9) On a four day back-up after working to the line well to finish just behind the placegetters at Murray Bridge on Saturday. She gets a 3kg claim for Caitlyn Munro and this is an easier race. Rates highly. Check odds

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Wednesday 29th May 2024

Key Comments The rail is in the true position. Michael Dee and Jordan Childs both have a strong book of cards and are the jockeys to follow for the challenge. Expecting all runners to have their chance on this track. Best Bet Tumbling (Sale Race 8 No. 4) Races best fresh and a recent trial was a sound piece of work. Usually settles off the speed so barrier 12 isn't much of a hinderance here and strikes a race lacking depth. Check odds

Horse Racing Tips: NSW Wednesday 29th May 2024

Key Comments The rail is in 6 metres. Big odds about the best bet who is a promising import and any market support would be ideal. Best Bet Tyndrum Gold (Canterbury Race 5 No. 1) Might be looking for further and be a dust off the cobwebs run however I was impressed with the 3 career wins of Tyndrum Gold overseas and this import who has joined the Nesham stable does find a winnable race fresh. Big odds. Check odds on SmartB

Horse Racing Tips: WA Wednesday 29th May 2024

Key Comments The track is rated Soft 6 and the rail moves from +3 to +14 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Red Tori (Belmont Race 2 No. 2) Playing God filly that won by 2.8 lengths over 1300m at Pinjarra Scarpside on 15th May. Rates highly with Brad Parnham retaining the ride and looks hard to beat. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way Reliable Queen (Belmont Race 6 No. 7) She won
