The race was first run in 1983 as a Listed race over 1200m and was won by Roman Aspect. The distance was increased to the current 1400m in 1990.
Originally for 3YO colts & geldings it is now open to all 3YOs.
It is held on Caulfield Cup day which is the biggest event of the year at Caulfield
