Open race. Alma Rise comes up short enough and has the wide draw but is coming off a nice last start win and can go on with things. Ganbare comes out of the right form race to be going close. Ahuriri has claims but will need luck from barrier 12 while Maputo looks suited stepping up in trip and is a promising stayer.

Has been racing in harder company than this and Ganbare looks hard to beat. Gets a lovely run from barrier 5 and the stable are having a big season.

2. Dunbelievin’ (3)

Can’t have.

3. Sambucus (11)

This looks too tough.

4. Cherokee Brave (4)

Has been around the mark this prep and looks a good chance from barrier 4 to be in the finish. Shinn steers and should appreciate the trip.

5. Impunity (1)

Can’t have.

6. Mornington Pier (8)

Prefer others.

7. El Poder Del Sol (9)  – scratched

8. Maputo (2)

Quality stayer who jumps up in trip, maps for a good run and looks well placed here. Can run a podium position.

9. Callawadda (7)  – scratched

10. Plastic Dreams (4)

Can’t have.

11. Ahuriri (12)

Will need luck from the barrier but does look well suited to this field. A lot to like about the win three back and had no luck last start. Lane steering is a big tick.

12. Alma Rise (13)

Favourite coming off a dominant maiden win. Much harder here but progressive type that has Kah doing the steering.

14. The Cast Off (10)

Can’t have.
