Canberra Cup – 2022

A race for the stayers where endurance will be the key. The market is headed by Toomuchtobear who has certainly been on an upward spiral this preparation. Parry Sound can win on its best form while Mr Gee creates plenty of intrigue. The Waterhouse-Bott stable have their regular rider Tim Clark aboard Sacramento who will be ensuring the race is run at a fair pace and he will be hard to get past if allowed to dictate from the front.

1. Sacramento (14)

Loves this distance, finds the front and will stay all day. The booking of Tim Clark is always a positive for a leader and it has big claims in this race.

2. Torrens (9)

Tricky to catch and has to deal with an awkward draw but certainly good enough to win the race and a bit of give in the ground suits Torrens.

3. Parry Sound (16)

Has been a little disappointing its past few runs but this distance really suits. 4 runs from Parry Sound at the trip and it has never missed the placings. Each-way hope.

4. Silandarabad (6)

Poor so far this prep but has the talent to win this. Good chance.

5. Monegal (2)

1/1 at the track and gets along with Brock Ryan very well. Nice each-way chance.

6. Toomuchtobear (10)

Undefeated over this trip and the booking of Tommy Berry is a positive move. Hard to beat and deserves to be well in the market.

7. Alakahan (5)

Not a first up performer. I’d want to see a betting move before considering.

8. Kiss The Bride (18)

Despite the awkward map, certainly not hopeless at odds. This distance suits and should land somewhere on the speed.

10. Five Kingdom (4)

Five Kingdom has claims from the good draw. Can be hard to catch but will only run well from barrier 4 and gets an in form jockey.

11. Mr Gee (1)

Outstanding return and the booking of James Mcdonald is a very good push. Massive chance.

12. Outlandos  (11)

The map looks awkward but does love this trip. In the mix.

14. Dadoozdart (3)

Wants a wet track which doesn’t look likely. I think $7 is under the odds however it wouldn’t completely shock.

15. Maid Of Ore (12)

Not hopeless at odds. Tricky draw but its form is sound for this.

16. The Guru (15)

Really good roughie. I have no problems with its form lines. The track pattern will be the key for The Guru but if they are running on I think it has a huge chance to surprise these. Over the odds.

17. King Ratel (13)

Wouldn’t completely shock but I couldn’t find room for it in my numbers.

18. Roman (8)

Can’t have.
