A true staying test this will be over the 2400. Surefire looks primed to take this out coming off some good runs this prep and will get all the favours from the draw with James Mcdonald booked. Schabau has the tendency to over race but has ability and is a big price at the $61.00 mark. Emissary has been plain its past 2 runs but if it can find form again it will be a major player in this field while Makram will be hitting the line hard with an in form Craig Williams in the saddle.

1. Serpentine (13)

Can lead and give good check from the wide draw. If left alone up front it can be in this for a long way. Top 4 chance.

2. Midnight Blue (10)

Need to see the stable lift in Victoria. Capable but prefer others.

3. San Huberto (19)

Can’t have.

4. Francesco Guardi (15)  – SCRATCHED

5. Makram (18)

Excellent run last start and can take this race out. Williams will need to be very good from the draw but he is in excellent form and can continue on with things here. Hasn’t missed the quinella over the trip from 3 goes and will be hitting the line hard.

6. Rodrigo Diaz (17)

Bad draw and will need luck with the map. Respect any market moves that arrive.

7. Surefire (6)

Continues to race better than it looks on paper. J-Mac should be able to settle closer from the draw and Surefire hasn’t missed the quinella from both goes at the trip. Deserving to be well in the market and should be hard to beat.

8. Emissary (7)

Was only fair last run but if Emissary can find its effort from 3 starts back it will go awfully close to taking this out. Shinn has hit fine form since returning to Australia and this is a suitable race for Emissary. Top 4 chance.

9. Luncies (16)

Suited by the ground drying out. Is going to need some luck from the draw but Damian Lane is an eye catching booking and it is suited over the 2400. Talented galloper and worth respecting any market moves.

10. Schabau (11)

Talented galloper but has the tendency to over race and cost its self its chance. Ready to peak 3rd up and is 1/1 with Prebble aboard. The $61.00 is well worth a nibble at those odds.

11. Grove Ferry (3)

Over raced last start and ruined its chances. Barrier 3 will ensure Meech has options and this is a winnable race. Respect any market moves from the astute stable.

12. Interpretation (4)

Hit the line well behind Lunar Flare last start and that horse was given an excellent ride. Melham has options from the barrier and it looks well placed in this field. Deserving of being favourite and will be hard to beat against this lot.

13. La Dragontea (9)

Overseas raider that has Jamie Kah sticking the saddle. Last run was a pass mark and it has been well tried in early markets. This race is within reach, keep it safe.

14. Media Award (1)

Prefer others.

15. Attorney (12)

Can’t have.

16. Aurora’s Symphony (8)

2/3 over this trip and its runs are better than what they look on paper. Not hopeless at $101.00.

17. Teewaters (14)

Prefer others.

18. Team Captain (5)

Always heavily tried when markets open. Ran okay last start and has run 2 seconds from 2 attempts at the track. Team Captain has made the quinella twice from 2 goes second up. It needs to improve on its form but gets its chance here.

19. Herman Hesse (2)

Should give a strong sight from the ideal barrier. First look at the track but likes this distance and is well weighted. No jockey booked at the moment so it may be scratched.
