How to pick a winner

Geelong Classic 2022 Preview

Track: Soft Weather: Fine

Favourite Let’srollthedice looks hard to beat and well placed in this field jumping from barrier 4 with the in form Blake Shinn aboard. Dream Hour continues to race well and just needs even luck to figure in the finish while Grand Pierro deserves respect and brings in some strong form to the race with the in form Craig Williams in the saddle. Ignacio has the eye catching booking of J-Mac and brings across the NWS form. There looks to be strong tempo in this with a few likely to go forward in the run.

Geelong Classic 2022 Runner by Runner

1. Let’srollthedice (4)

Clear favourite and one to beat in this race boasting some strong form lines and jumping from an ideal barrier. Shinn is in extremely good form and the horse fits the profile of this race well. The $2.50 is a very fair price.

2. Dream Hour (15)

Dream Hour is racing in excellent fashion and continues to win. The wide draw and an out of form Oliver are both queries but hard to knock winning form and Dream Hour can figure in the finish if it finds luck from the draw.

3. Grand Pierro (14)

Racing in excellent fashion and this race is more than within reach. Williams will need a bit of luck from the draw but it has been well tried in early market and the 2200 is bound to suit. The $6.50 is a solid price and it looks the main danger to the favourite. Big chance.

4. Roznamla (1)

Racing well but has a bit to learn. Barrier 1 and Nash are both massive positives. Expecting Nash may try to dig Roznamla out of the gates and he will get every last piece of it to the line. Expect improvement and the form around Never Again gets tested out earlier on in the day.

5. Sir Torobeel (3)

Can’t have.

6. Peshwa (11)

Should land on the speed and give a sight. The amount of pressure it cops early is vital to its chances but King has won aboard and he sticks which is a positive sign. Top 4 chance.

7. Ignacio (7)

Still a maiden and has been beaten a few times at very short prices. Eligible for easier races than this, you have to respect the placement and booking of J-Mac. Getting back on to dry ground may spark large improvement, keep very safe with that in mind.

8. Amabutho (2)

Prefer others.

9. Pammukale (10)

Should run well from the Godolphin camp who are in amazing form. Kah takes the steer from the tricky draw but she is good at getting her rides to settle. Where Pammukale lands in the run will be vital to its chances but it is going well enough to be taking this out.

10. Mogadishu (8)

Going okay but would like to see a market push.

11. King’s Crossing (9)

Prefer others.

12. Aberfeldie Boy (5)

Racing as if the trip will suit and Mcneil maps to get an excellent run in transit from barrier 5. Expecting it to be in the finish at very healthy odds.

13. Matopo (6)

Prefer others.

14. Sirius Princess (13)

Has displayed good talent in a few runs thus far and I liked its return. The map looks tough from barrier 13 but if Holland can land it on the speed without too much pressure it can give a good sight in this race.

15. Albanian Icon (12)

Can’t have.

4. Francesco Guardi (15) – scratched
