Pakenham Racecourse
The Pakenham Racecourse is within an hour’s drive from Melbourne on the city fringe. Pakenham provides that country feel within the city’s reach. The Pakenham Racing Club has both a Synthetic and Turf course and also provides both day and night racing. Formed in 1875, race meetings were held yearly before rarely getting used in the early 1900’s. Their first Pakenham Cup meeting was held in 1966 which happened to be the first meeting in Australia in which decimal currency was used.
Pakenham has one listed race over the course of the year.

Getting to Pakenham Races
If travelling via car, car parking is available on site. You can access the racecourse via Nar Nar Goon or Tynong townships (420 Nar Nar Goon Longwarry Road, Tynong). Car Parking is available though Members’ car park is directly at the end of the main driveway.
Usually there is a Free Shuttle Bus but it is currently non-operational due to Covid restrictions.
