Our Flemington Horse Racing Tips for Saturday’s meeting.

The feature race is the Listed Kensington Stakes (race 7).

Long Arm (Flemington Race 8 No. 2)

This Peter Gelagotis trained runner is second up on Saturday.  He is a lightly raced European import having just his fourth start – he has won 3 of them.  He impressed at his first Australian run, particularly his last 100m where he was very strong through the line once collaring his rivals.  There is no doubt that the step up to 2000m is advantageous and with a run under his belt he should be hard to beat again.

Great House (Flemington Race 2 No. 8):

This four year old gelding is having his first Australian start for Chris Waller.  In his first preparation he ran second in a maiden race and then broke his maiden the following start.  I have been particularly taken by his recent jump outs at Flemington where he has travelled well under what appeared vice like grips from the jockeys.  Whilst this is short of his best distance he looks to have some class and has drawn well in 8 to be given clear air at the top of the straight.

Heavenly Emperor (Flemington Race 5 No. 7):

Heavenly Emperor was heavily backed at Caulfield at his last start and was able to get the money thanks to another Jamie Kah masterclass.  This race looks much harder and despite a good Flemington record he appears rock bottom odds at $2.70 here.  Happy to bet around him.

Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.
