Our Devonport Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.

Michbar (Devonport Race 5 No. 1)
It’s been three wins and three places from 10 starts for this four-year-old Whittington gelding trained by Adam Trinder. He faded and peaked on his run for 6.3 lengths 7th over 1220m at Launceston, then got pipped on the post for 0.1 length 2nd over 1150m at Devonport on 3 December. He has very good form on this synthetic track and looks the leading chance.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Sir Simon (Devonport Race 7 No. 5):
This eight-year-old Tickets gelding trained by Scott Brunton has nine wins and five places from 22 starts. He was an easy 2.3 length winner over 1400m at Launceston on 3 November, then chased solidly the entire straight for 1.7 lengths 6th in the Listed Kilmore Cup over 1600m on 21 November. Has won two from three this campaign and looks a good each-way bet.

Best Lay

Vallabar (Devonport Race 8 No. 2):
This six-year-old gelding is the early favourite in this BM 68 handicap over 1880m. He finished 2.4 lengths 3rd when favourite over 1400m at Hobart on 14 November, then was outsprinted for 2.1 lengths 5th over 1650m at Devonport on 3 December. He hasn’t won beyond 1600m and I’m prepared to risk him here.

Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet is in the first and looks hard to beat. Best Bet Fifty Five Mustang (Muswellbrook Race 1 No. 1) Superb return when running a bold second at large odds. No harder here and just has to overcome the wide draw to score. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker Each Way Torn (Muswellbrook Race 4 No. 9) Trials have been rock solid. Bullock rides from

Key Comments The rail is true from the 1600 to the winning post and out 3 metres for the remainder. The best bet I have priced nearly a moral and runs towards the end of the day. Best Bet Diamond City (Cranbourne Race 7 No. 9) Sat 3WNC at the end of last prep and couldn't match it with Semana. That form is huge for this and the run rated through the roof. Should be winning if ready to go. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker Each Way Berkshire Breeze (Cranbourne Race 5 No. 1) Keen to multi with the best bet. Excellent return run. Will be strips fitter for it, an in form Brown rides and hard to to knock the stable right now. They are flying. Key Comments The feature is the $200,000 Wagga Town Plate and the best bet also bobs up in the race. Best Bet Duped By Spin (Wagga Riverside Race 8 No. 7) Keen on Rocketing By in the feature. It has the class edge on this field and didn't have much luck last start in a race much harder than this. D-day but perfectly placed here. Key Comments The track is rated Good and the rail is +7 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Stryker's Gal (Pinjarra Scarpside Race 6 No. 9) This filly has been runner-up at 2 of her 3 starts – the latest over 1413m at Pinjarra. She’s drawn nicely and should get every chance to break through for her maiden win. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way Warning Shot (Pinjarra Scarpside Race 4
