Horse Racing Tips : TAS Sunday 9th July 2023

Our Hobart Horse Racing Tips for Sunday’s meeting.

Key Comments

Track: Currently a Soft 6 but there’s a touch of rain on the forecast. Will definitely race rain affected but won’t see a downgrade unless there’s consistent rain on race-day.

Rail: +5m (Previously in the True position)
Notes: The Hobart track is racing better than ever. It should race fair despite the rail shifting to the +5m position, any bias will largely be tempo dependent. Often if rain comes on race-day, runners will look towards the crown of the track.
As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.
Jockeys to follow:

Best Bet

Move on Over (Hobart Race 6 No. 2):

Has been beaten in close finishes last two starts. Drawn to control this race and gets in well against her own sex/in this grade. Should prove hard to get past on rain affected going. Looks an each-way special!

$5.00/2.00

Best Each Way

Berserker (Hobart Race 2 No. 5):

Willing to forgive a plain run last start after resuming with a nice run the start prior. Now 3rd up should be almost at peak fitness, and drawn a middle alley should get a nice run in transit and given every opportunity to finish strongly late. Quality horse on his day, and I think we get a price today to find out if he’s come back well this prep.

$8.00/2.40

Best Lay

Julius (Hobart Race 7 No. 5):

Looks the ‘obvious’ favourite coming out of a hot race behind Alpine Wolf, however he now steps out to the 1200m, a distance which he is yet to taste victory at 7 attempts. For a horse that could be vulnerable late, he’s too short in the market and worth taking on.

Lay (WIN) at < $3.00

Race 1

7 Rue De Palais
10 Agnete
5 Loud Mouth
2 Freddy’sajetstar

Notes:
Backing #10 each-way. #7 a nice enough horse but very short.

Race 2

2 Creative Licence
4 Sweet Lucifer
5 Berserker
3 General Assembly

Notes:
Backing #4 and #5 (should drift). #2 just too short for me.

Race 3

10 Global Awareness
4 No Surprises
7 Where You From
2 Fashion Fox

Notes:
Wanted to back #10 but no meat on the bone at the price. #7 and #2 can run good races at a price

Race 4

4 Chi Mazel
1 Yarra Master
9 Banca Glee
5 Eagle Street

Race 5

3 Etosha
5 Quicken Up
7 Hot Wired
2 Mr Freeze

Notes:
#3 Etosha should be suited back in trip. Went up a lot longer early and now into right price. Should get every possible out in front with a smart claim. #7 goes well fresh, #2 I’d want to be with 2nd up from a break.

Race 6

2 Move On Over (BB)
6 Scardimalia
5 Day Performer
3 Unique Glow

Notes:

#6 backed early, but not convinced it’ll slot in from that draw and string 2 strong performances together. #2 looks a cracking each-way play, on-speed and racing well.

Race 7

5 Julius
1 Swoop Dog
9 Hellova Night
3 Dark Wanderer

Notes:

Against #5 at the price. Not sure what wins, but a hard race in my opinion

Race 8

5 Gee Gee Enuf Speed
2 Street Tough
11 Gee Gee Silentnite
3 Rich Clan

Notes:
#5 racing really well and recording strong ratings. #2 suited at the 1400m on the home track, with a nice claim. #11 racing well but maybe not good enough to win.

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Tuesday 17th September 2024

Key Comments The track is in the soft range. Focusing on runners that are on speed as that is how the track typically plays. The best bet was narrowly denied last start and can notch up another career win in a very suitable race. Best Bet Privacy Tour (Wodonga Race 6 No. 6) Narrowly denied last run and the form has stood up since. While this is a rise in grade, on paper this race is no harder. Egan takes over and drops

Key Comments 7 race card takes place. The best bet comes up in the first and has been subject to plenty of market support and should take beating off the back of a strong run fresh. Best Bet Tycoon Jenny (Corowa Race 7 No. 1) She has been hard to catch lately but form has been back on track and ticks all the boxes for this. Her best is good enough, maps for a good run and is in okay at the weights

Key Comments Racing on a soft track. The best bet comes up later on in the day and should appreciate the drop in grade. It is still looming around healthy odds at time of typing. Best Bet Great Siege (Tamworth Race 6 No. 5) Well placed to be taking this out. Has to lump the weight but drops back in grade off a commendable return on the back of a freshen up. Has won on this track and looks well placed in this

Key Comments Expecting on pace runners to be suited on this track. Running on an expected heavy deck so looking towards runners that will handle the conditions. Best Bet Three Grand (Hamilton Race 8 No. 10) Tricky card to sort with plenty of chances. Three Grand has been around the mark this prep. Unknown on a heavy deck but proven down to soft footing, Allen hops back aboard and he is 1/1 when steering. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
