At his last two starts this gelding has been unlucky not to have won.He ran on near the rail and joined the front at the 50m but just missed for 0.1 length 2nd over 1600m at Doomben on 2 May, then led in to the home turn and was run down in the final 100m to finish 0.8 lengths 2nd over 1800m at Gold Coast on 16 May. He drops in weight and looks ready to win this time.

Shijin (Doomben Race 6 No. 12):
This Poet’s Voice mare has good form at this distance, has won 2 of her 3 starts at this track and has won on soft and heavy going. She led from the 800m to the home turn but was headed at the 250m and faded for 3.2 lengths 6th over 1400m at Eagle Farm on 23 May, then came out next start on a soft track to win by 2.3 lengths over 1350m at Doomben on 10 June. She looks a great each-way bet here.

Garibaldi (Doomben Race 8 No. 1):
This I Am Invincible colt is the early favourite in this 3YO race after racing at Group level at his last 2 starts. He finished 2.8 lengths 7th in the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas 3YO Plate over 1200m at Gold Coast on 16 May, then ran 4.15 lengths 6th in the Group 3 Fred Best 3 YO Plate over 1350m at Doomben on 30 May. Despite the drop in grade he has a big weight,and has never won at this track after 5 starts here, and his only win in 12 starts was over 1000m.
