Our Canterbury Park Horse Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.
Ibaraki (Canterbury Race 2 No. 2):
Normally I wouldn’t pick an unraced horse as a best bet, but this three-year-old Darci Brahma gelding trained by Team Hawkes has won both his trials in convincing fashion. He was a 2.8 length winner of a 3YO+ Maiden trial at Rosehill back in December, then won by almost a length in a 900m trial at Rosehill on 4 June where he didn’t look stretched. If he brings his trial form to the races he will win.

Each Way
Montserrat (Canterbury Race 7 No. 2):
This four-year-old Not A Single Doubt gelding trained by Mark Newnham has three wins and eight place from 17 starts. He was no match for the winner when headed at the 220m but battled on okay for 3.35, 0.04 lengths 3rd over 1600m at Gosford on 8 May, then was headed at the 150m and battled on for 1.8 lengths 2nd over 1900m at Canterbury on 26 May. Both those runs were on soft tracks. He goes down in weight here and is a nice place chance again.

Best Lay
Acrophobic (Canterbury Race 6 No. 1):
This three-year-old Dissident gelding is the early favourite in this BM 72 handicap over 1550m. He was winded in the latter stages when 4.2 lengths 8th in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas over 1400m on 1 May, then kept chasing but couldn’t get past the winner when 0.24 lengths 2nd over 1550m at Kensington on 19 May. He doesn’t offer value at the current price.
$2.80
