Our Belmont Horse Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.
Irritable Rodnee (Belmont Race 5 No. 3)
This four-year-old Zoffany gelding trained by Stephen Miller has two wins and three 2nd places from nine starts. At the end of last campaign he finished 4 lengths 9th over 1400m at Ascot on 20 January, then was spelled for 24 weeks. He resumed with a 2.23 length win over 1400m at Pinjarra Park on 8 July on a heavy track. That was a tough win and he has won second-up before. Looks the likely winner.
Diablerie (Belmont Race 7 No. 4):
This eight-year-old New Approach gelding has eight wins and 17 places from 65 starts. He ran on strongly for 0.16, 1.58 lengths 3rd over 1200m on soft going at Ascot on 12 May, then had an eight week let-up. He was slowly away and held up in traffic before making some ground in the straight for 6.12 lengths 6th over 1200m at Belmont on 10 July. Normally goes well second-up and looks worth an each-way bet here.
Ghobella (Belmont Race 2 No. 4):
This three-year-old Blackfriars filly is the early favourite in this Class 1 Handicap over 1700m. She got back 2nd last on the rails and weaved through the field for 0.78, 0.57 lengths 3rd over 1400m at Northam on 1 July, then raced up to hit the lead at the top of the straight and fought gamely but was swamped in the final 50m to finish 1.3 lengths 4th over 1400m on a heavy track at Belmont on 14 July. She will probably place again but with only one win from 11 starts I am prepared to risk her at this price.
Best Bet | Race 8 #2 Morethannumberone Must be with this progressive 5yo trained at the Gold Coast track by the shrewd Michael Costa. He was electric winning last start at this track and really should be unbeaten from three starts this campaign. Instead, he’s won two from three, with the blemish coming when caught wide two starts back at Doomben. The form out of that race looks good now with Lasting Kiss continuing to win. He has a wide gate here but there’s not a lot of speed and Andrew Mallyon
Best Bets Our Newcastle Horse Racing Tips for Fridays meeting. Feature races are the Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup (race 7), Group 3 Tibbie Stakes (race 6) and Group 3 Cameron Handicap (race 8). Capital Reign (Newcastle Race 4 No. 4) This three-year-old Capitalist gelding trained by Gary Portelli has three wins and a place from four starts. He showed good speed to lead and was challenged soon after straightening but found another gear in the last 200m and sprinted clear for a soft all the way
Best Bets Our Morphettville Horse Racing Tips for the weekend. The feature race is the Listed W H Wylie Handicap (race 8). Melody Man (Morphettville Race 6 No. 6) This five-year-old Fiorente gelding trained by Jake Stephens at Victor Harbor has three wins and four places from nine starts. He came clear in the final 100m to win by 2.8 lengths over 1600m at Morphettville on 21 August, then won by a solid 3.2 length margin over 1950m at Morphettviille Parks on 4 September. Should be hard
Best Bets Our Caulfield Horse Racing Tips for Saturday 18th September 2021. The feature is the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (race 8). Annavisto (Caulfield Race 6 No. 3) Super return here three weeks ago when second behind Turaath who subsequently bolted in at Group 3 level at Flemington last week. Strips fitter second up and maps in the perfect position from barrier five. Very hard to beat. $2.45 Each Way Bella Nipotina (Caulfield Race 9 No. 3) Bella Nipotina has
