Gloved | (Mt Gambier Race 3 No. 8)

The former Tony & Calvin McEvoy trained daughter of Exceed and Excel will have her first start for Will Clarken here, in what looks to be a pretty weak maiden. Since taking over her training, Clarken has sent her to the trials once, which was an impressive trial, second behind Queman, who won at Morphettville on the weekend. She gets the pre-race earmuffs on for the first time and the lugging-bit off, and she is drawn well for this 900m scamper. I expect her to lead and be hard to beat.

Cafe Rizu | (Mt Gambier Race 1 No.3)

Just a small field in the opener here and I thought Café Rizu would be a good chance to gain another win this preparation. The former Mick Price/Michael Kent Jnr galloper won a benchmark 60 two back in nice style before having an irregular heartbeat last start and running a distant fourth. She has since headed back to the trials for a fitness run and she finally gets up to a more suitable distance over the 2000m. Ben Price sticks which will give her 1.5kg weight relief and she should be able to sit wherever she pleases in this small field. She is the one to beat, I just hope they offer a decent price.

Nerrivik | (Mt Gambier Race 6 No. 8)

Taking on this undefeated galloper as I didn’t rate his debut run. I think he has come up well under the odds and I don’t even have him in my top four. Happy to be against it.

Eagles Forever | (Mt Gambier Race 5 No.4)

They will be looking for their third win in a row with this son of Atomic, who looked set to run at Morphettville on the weekend before being a scratched, presumably due to the wide draw. I don’t mind the slight drop back in distance as he goes up in grade here and the draw will certainly help in regard to where he can get to in the run. I see no reason why he can’t run a good race and I expect him to be right in the finish.

Horse Racing Tips: QLD Wednesday 8th May 2024

Key Comments The track is rated soft and the rail is +11 metres for the 9 race card. Best Bet Metalart (Eagle Farm Race 9 No. 9) Unbeaten at both his starts and should be running near the front. Both runs have been on soft going and he should be hard to beat. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way Thesecondatportsea (Eagle Farm Race 4 No. 4) She’s won 3 of her 5 starts

Horse Racing Tips: NSW Thursday 9th May 2024

Key Comments The track is in the heavy 10 range. The rail is in 3 metres. The best bet has heavy form and looks a big hope with Gibbons steering. Best Bet Bellascent (Wyong Race 4 No. 6) Excellent run last start almost pulling off the win at decent odds. That was on heavy ground and it got within .2 of the winner. Should get conditions to suit again here and by this time of the day being drawn wide may not be

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Thursday 9th May 2024

Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet had no luck last run when a $101 chance and will start much shorter this time around. Best Bet Themoonsaballoon (Pakenham Race 4 No. 5) Remarkable effort to remain standing and hit the line like it did after the horse took a poor step and the jockey wasn't far off falling off. Picked up momentum regardless and steamed to the finish to just miss out on the win. This 6yo was $101.00 that day

Horse Racing Tips: WA Wednesday 8th May 2024

Key Comments There are 10 races today. The track is rated Soft and the rail is +16 metres and a cutaway applies. Best Bet Masamune (Ascot Race 5 No. 1) Resumes after a 21 week spell and showed a sharp turn of foot to win a recent trial. He has the inside draw and should be very hard to beat. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way Miss Ava (Ascot Race 10 No. 1)
