Our Gawler Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.
Singleton Park (Gawler Race 5 No. 4)
This three-year-old Sweynesse gelding trained by Phillip Stokes has one win and two places from 10 starts. He lost position and battled away evenly for 4.4 lengths 7th over 1400m at Murray Bridge on 23 June, then was held up from the turn to the 200m before working home nicely for 0.3 length 2nd over 1600m at Murray Bridge on 3 July. Has drawn barrier one and looks a great chance here.
Zipadee (Gawler Race 7 No. 6):
This four-year-old Zebedee mare trained by Darren Bonetti at Port Augusta has one win and four places from 16 starts. She fought hard but was no match in the final 100m and finished 3.6 lengths 4th over 1100m at Port Augusta on 6 June, then was let down at the top of the straight and drew well clear for a 5.6 length win in a maiden plate over 1100m at Port Augusta on 20 June. She has a 3kg claim and should be able to place here.
Call Me Archer (Gawler Race 8 No. 3):
This three-year-old Ambidexter gelding trained by Shayne Cahill at Strathalbyn is the early favourite in this BM 54 handicap over 1506m. When resuming after 15 weeks he battled away for 1, 0.4 lengths 3rd over 1200m at Balaklava on 30 June, then worked to the line without threatening for 3.4 lengths 5th over 1400m at Murray Bridge on 14 July. On a seven day back-up and offers no value at the current price.
Best Bets Our Kalgoorlie Horse Racing Tips for the weekend. Staralign (Kalgoorlie Race 6 No. 4) This six-year-old Universal Ruler gelding trained by Peter Fernie has seven wins and 12 places from 28 starts. He led early but faded in the run to the line and finished 12.9 lengths 13th over 2200m at Belmont on 26 June then had a 10 week let-up. On resuming he was held-up badly from the 400m to 100m and finished 1.9 lengths 2nd. Is a track specialist with five wins and five
Best Bet | Race 8 #2 Morethannumberone Must be with this progressive 5yo trained at the Gold Coast track by the shrewd Michael Costa. He was electric winning last start at this track and really should be unbeaten from three starts this campaign. Instead, he’s won two from three, with the blemish coming when caught wide two starts back at Doomben. The form out of that race looks good now with Lasting Kiss continuing to win. He has a wide gate here but there’s not a lot of speed and Andrew Mallyon
Best Bets Our Newcastle Horse Racing Tips for Fridays meeting. Feature races are the Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup (race 7), Group 3 Tibbie Stakes (race 6) and Group 3 Cameron Handicap (race 8). Capital Reign (Newcastle Race 4 No. 4) This three-year-old Capitalist gelding trained by Gary Portelli has three wins and a place from four starts. He showed good speed to lead and was challenged soon after straightening but found another gear in the last 200m and sprinted clear for a soft all the way
Best Bets Our Belmont Horse Racing Tips for the weekend. Kaptain Kaos (Belmont Race 2 No. 2) This four-year-old Demerit gelding trained by Michael Grantham has five wins and three places from nine starts. When resuming after 15 weeks he charged ahead late for a 0.3 length win over 1200m at Belmont on 7 August, then arrived late for a 0.2 length win over 1200m at Belmont on 28 August. The extra 200m should suit and he should be hard to beat. $1.90
