Il Don Cavallo (Oakbank Race 3 No. 1)
This 4YO gelding has a win and 2 places from 5 starts. At the end of last campaign he was slowly away then finished a disappointing 7th of 9 over 1250m at Morphettville Parkson 11 June and went for a spell. After 29 weeks he peeled out as the widest runner and came home strongly for 2nd over 1000m at Murray Bridge on 2 January.Gets the winkers on for the first time and looks a strong chance here.

Gravity (Oakbank Race 7 No. 11)
This eight-year-old hasn’t finished worse than 5th from 4 starts this campaign, and has been runner-up twice. He battled evenly for 6 lengths 4th over 1300m at Bordertown on 11 December, then really hit the line hard for 0.6 length 2nd over 1200m at Naracoorte on 29 December. The extra distance should be in his favour and he looks a nice each-way chance.
Shez Betty (Oakbank Race 6 No. 2)
This 4YO mare trained by Ken Sweeney is the early favourite in this Fillies and Mares Benchmark 56 Handicap over 1400m. She resumed from a 19 week spell for 2 lengths 2nd over 1200m at Gawler on 7 January but will carry 7 kg more here. That is a big weight increase and I’m prepared to risk her.
The rail is in the true position. Bullock has been riding in terrific form and comes up with a strong card again. He looks the jockey to follow on a card full of favourites that are hard to beat. Best Bet Sardonyx (Scone Race 2 No.3 ) A key scratching comes out and leaves Sardonyx very hard to beat. Maps well, Bullock steers and gets the right race here. Hard to beat at goods still. $2.90 Best Each Way
Our Newcastle tips for Monday's meeting. Key Comments The rail is in 5 metres. Heavy conditions expected so looking towards runners that are proven on wet tracks. Best Bet Dale (Newcastle Race 6 No. 2) No prizes for finding this runner but put in a solid effort on debut and drops miles in grade. In smartly at the weights here and with no jockey booked yet does look very hard to hold out in this thin maiden. $1.40 l
Our Nowra Tips for Monday's meeting. Key Comments The track is in the heavy range. The rail is true. Best Bet Deni Gal (Nowra Race 7 No. 4) None of these win out of turn but Deni Gal has good claims with a superb record at the track and a good record with Guymer steering. He has won twice from 6 goes aboard which is a very good sign given the horse is 3 wins from 22 starts. Hard to beat and maps
