Our Morphettville Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

Taunting (Morphettville Race 1 No. 4)
This two-year-old Brazen Beau colt trained by Michael Hickmott was well backed and sent out favourite at his only start. He sat just off the pace and peeled out wider approaching the turn and battled away for 2.2 lengths 2nd over 1000m at Morphettville Parks on 12 June. The rider said he raced greenly throughout and was disappointing. His trial prior to racing was very good and he should be able to win this time.

Each Way

Carbone  (Morphettville Race 5 No. 6):
This six-year-old Husson gelding trained by Peter Moody has six wins and nine places from 38 starts and goes well on soft going. He took over at the turn and kept finding for a 1.2 length win over 1350m at Strahalbyn on 26 May, then he was well back before working home strongly for 1.3 lengths 2nd over 1500m at Gawler on 16 June. Looks a nice each-way chance.

Best Lay

Sarodec (Morphettville Race 7 No. 1):
This three-year-old Kermadec gelding has three wins and one place from eight starts and is the early favourite for this BM 68 handicap over 1600m. He worked to the lead at the turn before being headed at the 200m and finishing 9.75 lengths 5th over 2025m at Cranbourne on 14 May, then he kicked clear at the 300m and tired late but hung on for a 0.75 length win over 1600m at Sandown Hillside on 12 June.  He rises a massive 6.5 kg in weight on a heavy track, and offers no value.

Key Comments The track is rated Soft and the rail is +0.5 metres from the 1000m to the winning post and +1.5 metres for the remainder. Best Bet Chilli Jam (Townsville Race 7 No. 16) She is absolutely flying and has won all 4 starts this campaign. She gets a 3 kg claim for Isabella Teh who rode her last start for a 3 length win. Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet can land us a win in the first. Best Bet Blue Steel (Quirindi Race 1 No. 3) Has been sound in both efforts to date and this race lacks any depth. The 5th last start is better than it reads on paper and that is in a race much harder than this. Goes in the mix here. Key Comments A big 10 race card takes place. The rail is in 3 metres. The track usually suits those who can sustain a long run to the line. That will suit the best bet who loves racing here and comes up later in the day. Best Bet Swanston (Grafton Race 7 No. 2) Has a booming turn of foot and while Swanston doesn't have the easiest pattern to catch, this track does suit and that shows with the 9 placings from 16

Key Comments The Warrnambool carnival kicks off and the 2?? feature races of day one are the Vobis Gold Strike (race 5) & the Merlin Handicap (race 7). The best bet has a superb first up record and brings in the class factor. The rail is true. Best Bet Claidheamh Mor (Warrnambool Race 8 No. 1) Brings in a brilliant first up record, maps to lead the field and relishes soft conditions. The early price has been taken and this 5yo Gelding has
