Rising From Ashes | (Happy Valley Race 8 No.9)
After two minor placings in his last two runs, a win is on the horizon for this Shamus Award three-year-old. Two runs back he ran a slashing third behind Whiz Kid and Special M, running the quickest final 200m of the entire meeting before finishing a narrow second to Namjong Sings last time out. In that race, he laid in a touch in the straight which may have cost him the race considering he was in the top three for 600m, 400m, and 200m sectionals for the entire meeting. Joao Moreira jumps aboard and the cheekpieces are added, which are two ideal changes plus he has drawn ideally. He will be hard to hold out.

I think we are getting a price due to the forced jockey change plus he goes up in grade, but there was plenty to like about his win last time out. He led the whole way and then some, saluting by just over two lengths in Class 5 company. Ruan Maia is a good jockey and an ideal substitution for Hewitson here, and from a nice draw, he can once again take up a forward running. Brilliant each-way bet.
