Our Canberra Racing Tips for Tuesday’s meeting on Melbourne Cup day.
Best Bet
Prophet’s Pride (Canberra Race 8 No. 7)
This four-year-old Divine Prophet mare trained by Matthew Kelley has three wins and two places from eight starts. She resumed for a 1.8 length win over 1100m at Bathurst on 18 October, where she got a nice trail on the rails behind the speed and drove through a gap in the last 100m to finish best. Has won on Soft and on Heavy going and will be tough to beat.

Each Way
Almost Persuaded (Canberra Race 9 No. 3)
Rob Potter trains this five-year-old Casino Prince mare who has three wins and seven places from 14 starts. She finished a length 3rd over 1200m on a Heavy track at Moruya on 30 September, then worked to the outside rail when straightening and took over for a 3.4 length win over 1400m on a Heavy track at Goulburn on 11 October. The track conditions won’t worry her and she should at least place here.

Best Lay
Sandastan (Canberra Race 2 No. 1)
This four-year-old Epaulette gelding trained by Richard Litt at Warwick Farm is the early favourite in this BM 60 Handicap over 2000m. He is going well but doesn’t look like a wet-tracker, and as I write this in Canberra on a monday afternoon the rain has been falling all day and the ground is waterlogged. He has top weight of 59.5kg to lug around in the mud, and in these conditions I am prepared to risk him.

Horse Racing Tips: NSW Wednesday 11th December 2024
Key Comments The track is in the soft range. Expecting on pace runners to be suited. Very keen on the chances of the best bet who can roll forward and prove very hard to get past. Best Bet Tempestuous (Wyong Race 6 No. 6) Ran into King Kirk on debut which is superb form for this. Narrowly denied that day and can roll forward and prove too good for these. Should shorten come race day into odds on and below. Check odds
Horse Racing Tips: NSW Tuesday 10th December 2024
Key Comments The track is in the good range. The best bet closes off the day and can get the job done after being heavily backed in early markets. Best Bet Threetimesalady (Quirindi Race 7 No. 1) Slashed in price off the back of a strong last start win. Finds a race not much harder here and will take a power of beating as the market support suggests. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
Horse Racing Tips: NSW Tuesday 10th December 2024
Key Comments The track is in the soft range. The best bet kicks things off in the first of the day and will appreciate dropping back from town. Best Bet November Sun (Ballina Race 1 No. 2) Racing in good fashion including putting the writing on the wall last time out in town. Should appreciate this drop in grade, drawn well and ticks all the boxes to be breaking through. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
Horse Racing Tips: NSW Monday 9th December 2024
Key Comments The track is in the soft range. The best bet kicks off earlier in the day and has won previously first up in the past and should prove hard to beat fresh. Best Bet Toomuchinformation (Tuncurry Race 2 No. 1) Flies over this trip having made the quinella 4 times from 10 goes and best racing comes on soft footing with 3 wins from 11 attempts in these conditions. Lumps plenty of weight here but takes some off thanks to the
