Best Bets

Our Canberra Horse Racing Tips for this Friday’s meeting.

Super Riff (Canberra Race 7 No. 6)

Gone a bit left field for the best bet and I think the price has some meat on it. The son of Super One got the winkers on for the first time last start and I really liked his run. He sat three wide with cover before peeling the widest in the straight and looking the winner around 150m out but I think the heavy track mixed with the wide run just took its toll late against Dream Game, who had a kinder run throughout. I think he can get a nicer run here and I think there should be enough pace to bring him into the race. Think he is worth a speck at the price.

Current Price: $7.50

Best Each Way

Chaotic Beauty (Canberra Race 6 No.7)

I thought this girl’s first-up run was very good when 0.2 of a length off the winner in fourth, in a race where she missed the kick by two lengths. She was the widest on turning and finished off the race brilliantly. She gets the barrier blanket the first time to try and help her in the barriers and gets a nice senior jockey change to Nick Heywood. She has drawn well, so if they can get away nice enough, I expect Heywood to sit her closer in the run. I do concede she is a slight risk at the barriers and has had 39 days between runs due to abandonment, but the stable generally keeps them fit. I will be saving on the favourite Burgundy Girl, but I thought this girl was worth a risk.

Current Price: $11.00

Key Comments There are 9 races and the feature is the Listed $125,000 H.G. Bolton Sprint over 1200m (race 7). The track is heavy and the rail is +4 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Cleanemup (Belmont Race 1 No. 3) She won impressively on debut where she took over at the 250m and fought hard when challenged. Blinkers go on and from the inside barrier Pike should take her to the front where she’ll be hard to beat. Check odds on SmartB

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Friday 26th July 2024

Key Comments The best bet comes up in the second and is ready to win. Expecting the track to suit on pace runners. Best Bet Silver Hammer (Echuca Race 2 No. 3) Excellent in its past two starts and is ready to win. Drawn wide but has the speed to offset that and strikes a slightly easier race than last start. Should give this a real shake. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker Each
