Beauty Tycoon (Happy Valley Race 4 No.5)

I found this a two-horse race between this bloke and Yo Beauty. Our bloke was an impressive winner two back when he won by 1.2 lengths at Sha Tin over the 1200m in Class 4, carrying 58kg. Last start he went close again up to Class 3 with 55.5kg but finished half a length off King Land in third, in a race that had Enchanting Ibis, Midori Beauty, and the weekend’s winner in Victor The Winner, all finish within 1.3 lengths of each other. This is a much easier Class 3 and once again I am with the Purton/Size combo as Purton jumps aboard him. He trialed a fortnight ago where he ran on to win nicely so he will be ready fourth-up here. They have drawn beautifully with their main rival Yo Beauty leading them up with the 4.5kg claim and the inside draw, so I expect Zac to tag him before making the strategic move on the bend. He has better form than the rest of these and should be winning this.

Shining Fortune (Happy Valley Race 7 No.12)

This bloke finished second to our pick in Race 6 last time out, he looked like the winner late before being beaten close to the line. His runs prior read poorly as he ran sixth and eighth, though they had excuses from poor draws and things going wrong in the run. A couple of things give me some hope here despite the fact they have drawn the widest gate. In his latest trial which was last week, he went forward and sat on the pace, which he has done previously, so I expect them to have the plan to go forward here with the lack of pace engaged. They have the right man on in Zac Purton, he will likely assess the situation well. I love the blinkers going on for the first time with this bloke, and the stable has a positive strike rate and return when they make this sort of move. This is a risk and we should get a price to find out (I hope) providing they don’t overplay the Zac booking.
