Awesome Rival | (Belmont Race 3 No.8)

Kicking off our best bet in the third race on the card with this Awesome Rock filly having her second start for the preparation. First-up at Pinjarra she ran a credible race in fourth despite starting an incredibly short favourite after over a year off. She sat on the pace which ended up 3.9 lengths above average and although she was 2.75 lengths off the eventual winner, she was only a length off second. She will improve immensely after that run and back to 1200m is ideal for her. The filly has drawn nicely to sit just off the leaders this time in, and with Chris Parnham remaining aboard, I am expecting a bold run.

Current Price: $2.40

Next Best Bet

Just Jerry | (Belmont Race 6 No. 3)

I saw a much more improved effort from the son of Universal Ruler last start with the blinkers on first time, coming from seventh on the turn to finish 2.7 lengths off Blue Card in second. I love the gradual step back up to 2000m which I believe is his ideal distance and the blinkers will just give him that extra edge he needs. He gets Clint Johnston-Porter aboard who does some of his best work here at Belmont. There is a slight query with the wide draw but there isn’t that much pace engaged in this race, so settling midfield is going to be an option.

Current Price: $5.50

Best Lay

Arnray | (Belmont Race 6 No.2)

Happy to take on Arnray at the price despite having him favourite on my market, as his current price is too low. I am not sold on his run two back over 1800m and despite racing at 2000m last preparation, he hasn’t improved enough to the point of being a $2.00 favourite. It won’t surprise me to see him win, but he can do it without me at that price.

Current Lay Price: $2.00

Horse Racing Tips: TAS Sunday 28th April 2024

Key Comments The track is Soft and the rail is +4 metres the entire circuit. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Best Bet Sky Land (Hobart Race 1 No. 10) This 2YO filly takes on the older horses here but has been very game

Key Comments There are 7 races on a Good track where the rail is in the true position. Best Bet Lord Valen (Strathalbyn Race 2 No. 3) He’s been runner-up at both starts this campaign, at Murray Bridge then Balaklava. He gets his chance to lose his maiden status here. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way Tennessee Maggie (Strathalbyn Race 4 No. 12) Tennessee Magic was runner-up at Gawler last start and should

Key Comments Features are the $75,000 The Fitzroy Open over 1300m (race 6) and $775,000 The Archer over 1300m (race 7). The track is rated Soft and the rail is +2.5m the entire circuit. Best Bet Penman (Rockhampton Race 5 No. 3) Last start he led most of the way on a bog track before being overhauled late. On a better track he should be hard to beat. Horse Racing Tips: VIC Sunday 28th April 2024

Key Comments 8 race card with a few short favourites that look hard to beat. The best bet comes up in race 5 and is knocking on the door for a win. Best Bet Subrising (Ballarat Race 5 No. 6) Comes off the back of 2 second placings and Egan will ride from the wide draw. A lot to like about the past few runs and looks a better hope than the favourite who may just get too far back in this.
