Best Bets

Our Belmont Horse Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.

Apple Schnapps (Belmont Race 6 No. 2)
This four-year-old Alfred Nobel gelding trained by Lindsey Smith has three wins and three places from 13 starts. He fought hard to overhaul the leader in the final strides for a 0.2 length win over 1200m at Pinjarra Park on 5 August, then kept coming for 1.3 lengths 4th over 1200m at Belmont on 28 August. Should be hard to beat.

Each Way

Call Again (Belmont Race 5 No. 3):
This five-year-old War Chant gelding has two wins and four places from 17 starts. When resuming from a 24 week spell he battled away for 4th over 1400m at Belmont on 4 August, then fought on bravely for a length 2nd over 1400m at Belmont on 18 August. He should be fitter now and is a solid each-way chance in this race.

Best Lay

Popcorn Tender (Belmont Race 8 No. 7):
This four-year-old Eurozone gelding is the early favourite in this Class 1 Handicap over 1200m. He levelled up then peaked late for 1.1 lengths 3rd over 1400m at Belmont on 11 August, then made some ground for 3.1 lengths 11th over 1400m at Belmont on 25 August. Is struggling to win this campaign and I’m prepared to risk him here.

$4.50

Key Comments The track is rated Soft and the rail is +0.5 metres from the 1000m to the winning post and +1.5 metres for the remainder. Best Bet Chilli Jam (Townsville Race 7 No. 16) She is absolutely flying and has won all 4 starts this campaign. She gets a 3 kg claim for Isabella Teh who rode her last start for a 3 length win. Can make it 5 in a row. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson

Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet can land us a win in the first. Best Bet Blue Steel (Quirindi Race 1 No. 3) Has been sound in both efforts to date and this race lacks any depth. The 5th last start is better than it reads on paper and that is in a race much harder than this. Goes in the mix here. Key Comments A big 10 race card takes place. The rail is in 3 metres. The track usually suits those who can sustain a long run to the line. That will suit the best bet who loves racing here and comes up later in the day. Best Bet Swanston (Grafton Race 7 No. 2) Has a booming turn of foot and while Swanston doesn't have the easiest pattern to catch, this track does suit and that shows with the 9 placings from 16

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Tuesday 30th April 2024

Key Comments The Warrnambool carnival kicks off and the 2?? feature races of day one are the Vobis Gold Strike (race 5) & the Merlin Handicap (race 7). The best bet has a superb first up record and brings in the class factor. The rail is true. Best Bet Claidheamh Mor (Warrnambool Race 8 No. 1) Brings in a brilliant first up record, maps to lead the field and relishes soft conditions. The early price has been taken and this 5yo Gelding has
