Our Belmont Horse Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.

Ghobella (Belmont Race 5 No. 1)
This four-year-old Blackfriars mare trained by Stephanie Bakranich has two wins and seven places from 13 starts. She loomed at the top of the straight and fought hard but was no match the final 150m to finish 5.9 lengths 2nd over 1700m at Belmont on 21 July. Last start she hit the lead at the top of the straight and kept going for a 2.9 length win over 1650m at Belmont on 28 July. Has a 3kg claim and should be able to win again.

Trade War (Belmont Race 8 No. 6):
This four-year-old Trade Fair gelding has one win from four starts. Resuming from a 20 week spell he came from last and picked off a few stragglers for 9.4 lengths 9th over 1200m at Belmont on 10 July, then made stead ground late for 4.3 lengths 7th over 1400m at Belmont on 28 July. Both of those runs were on heavy tracks and back to soft going and with William Pike riding he should run a place.

Jag The Joker (Belmont Race 9 No. 7):
This six-year-old mare is the early favourite in this Class 5 Handicap over 1200m. She faded in the straight on heavy going to finish 9.3 lengths 8th over 1200m at Belmont on 17 July, then battled on for 1.9 lengths 2nd over 1300m at Northam on 29 July. With 4 wins from 29 starts she doesn’t win out of turn and I’m prepared to risk her here.

There is plenty of rain forecast so the track will be a yielding surface. The first race is at 12.30 pm Hong Kong time which is 2.30 pm AEST. Best Bet Storming Dragon (Sha Tin Race 7 No. 8) Storming Dragon finished a length 3rd at his only start. He’s won a trial

Key Comments The sand track is rated Good and the weather is fine. The rail is in the true position. Best Bet Miracoli (Alice Springs Race 5 No. 7) Miracoli was a 5.3 length winer at this track and distance last start. Should race on the speed and be hard to beat. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way That's Justified (Alice Springs Race 4 No. 2) This 9YO notched up his 22nd win

Horse Racing Tips: TAS Sunday 5th May 2024

Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.
