Sydney Sixers v Brisbane Heat @ North Sydney

Wednesday January 4

Josh Brown – remember the name…  The 29 year old burst onto the T20 scene on Sunday night in Brisbane with some sublime hitting.  His 62 off 23 was the catalyst for a huge Heat score of 224 and a man of the match performance.

Extraordinarily the Sixers went close to running it down.  They made 209 in reply and if it wasn’t for a spectacular bit of fielding from Michael Neser preventing what looked a certain six from Jordan Silk late in the game they might well of got them.

We can expect more fire works on Wednesday night with this game to be played at North Sydney Oval – one of the smallest professional grounds in the world!  Pretty keen to target the match sixes market.

Adelaide Strikers v Hobart Hurricanes @ Adelaide

Thursday January 5

This is the return bout after these two sides met in Hobart on Monday night.  The Strikers posted a strong first innings total of 6/177 and I was surprised how easily the Hurricanes ran it down.  It took them just 17.2 overs after a fast start from Caleb Jewel and another quality big bash innings from Ben McDermott returning to the side.

Think we can look to play both Ben McDermott and Matt Short most runs for their respective sides in this.  They tick lots of boxes for me here.  Both are in form and open the batting which is a typically a good recipe on what is usually a flat Adelaide wicket.  I also want to save on Matt Wade in the Hurricanes innings – he is in good form.
