Sydney Sixers v Adelaide Strikers @ Blundstone Arena

The big bash continues tomorrow night when the Sydney Sixers face the Adelaide Strikers at Blundstone Arena.  Both sides won their last game after losing their opening round matches.

The Sixers dismantled the hapless Renegades.  First with the bat as youngster Josh Philippe reminded anyone who had forgotten that he is one of Australia’s best young talents.  He made a sublime 95 off 57 balls to take his side to a monster total of 205.  The Renegades were all out 60 in reply – 145 runs short of the Sixers total!

The Strikers got their season back on track with a win over Hobart.  In a much closer game of cricket they did well to bowl the Hurricanes out for 146 when it looked like getting away from them through the middle overs.  Peter Siddle taking five wickets in what would turn out to be a man of the match performance.

The Strikers lost two early wickets to begin their run chase as a result of some quality bowling from James Faulkner.  Before a match winning partnership between Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey saved the day for Adelaide.  They weathered the early heat to put on 107 for the third wicket.

This has the makings of a cracking game.  West Indian all rounder Jason Holder is a likely huge inclusion for the Sixers which will only strengthen their squad. However I have to favour Adelaide in this as I still have some queries on the Sixers batting order outside of Vince and Philippe.  The Strikers have a good bowling line up and if they can get one if not both cheaply then that will go a long way to winning this game.
