Adelaide Strikers v Melbourne Stars @ MCG

The Melbourne Stars will go into tonight’s game hot favourites despite losing five of their last six games.

These two sides played each other in Adelaide on Monday night.  The Stars batted first but only managed to score 149.  Marcus Stoinis was again in the runs with a well constructed 47.

There were a few nervous moments for the Strikers in reply but they did it easily enough in the end.  Jonathan Wells again provided a cool head in the middle order with a crucial 36 runs.

The Strikers star import Rashid Khan played his last game for Adelaide on Monday night.  He is off to play for his country which is a big loss and no doubt a big factor in how the market has been framed for this game.  Another factor being the Stars returning to their home ground, the MCG, for the first time this season.

Khan was able to dismiss Glenn Maxwell for his second golden duck in a row with an innocuous delivery that was skewed to point.  However these two ducks are in no way reflective of the Stars skippers current form.  He is still the best player in the big bash and with their season on the line he will be as hungry as anyone to make a huge score.

So for tonight’s betting strategy I am keen to back both him (Glenn Maxwell) and Marcus Stoinis for most runs for the Stars.  Now that Nicholas Pooran has departed they are the clear stand outs with the bat for the team in green and will be licking their lips at the opportunity to bat at the G again.
