Sydney Thunder v Sydney Sixers @ Manuka Oval

Tonight’s Sydney Derby promises to be a cracker with top spot on the BBL ladder up for grabs as well as bragging rights.

The Sixers returned to the winners stall on Sunday night.  They would have been pleased with their bowling effort, restricting the Heat to 148.  However lost early wickets with the bat slumping to 4 for 54.  Despite this, the Sixers yet again found away to take the game deep.  Mainly thanks to a 72 run partnership from skipper Daniel Hughes and veteran Daniel Christian.  Hughes was dismissed for 51 in the 17th over but the Heat could not remove Christian and he went on to hit the winning 4 off the last ball of the match.

The Thunder return from Perth after an honorable loss to the inform Scorchers on January 9.  Despite losing rare early wickets Sam Billings showed what he has to offer with the bat. He made a superb 83 but it wasn’t enough as the Thunder fell 18 runs short of the Scorcher total.

Despite losing 2 of their last 3 matches the Thunder are deserved favourites here.  I think they are traveling better than the Sixers who will be eagerly awaiting the return of their national players after the final test.  The Thunder also have significantly more power throughout their line up so I like the play on them to hit the most sixes and win the match.
