Golden State Warriors v San Antonio Spurs

12:40 pm 9 February AEST

These two meet for the second time this year, with the first meeting ending in an emphatic Warriors home victory by upwards of 20 points. This time around they meet again in San Antonio and both teams will be playing proper small ball, with respective bigs Wiseman and Aldridge set to miss. Steph Curry is coming off an absolutely enormous game against the defensively hapless Dallas Mavericks and despite his proper star power, faces a much tougher assignment against the Spurs.

The Warriors have been leaking defensively like a siv this season, conceding over 100 points in 8 of their last 9 matches, the one exception coming against the lowly Detroit Pistons. While they certainly can score, a fantastic defensive unit like the Spurs prove a much more difficult challenge with DeRozan, Murray and White all able to play proper defence, unlike the majority of the Dallas Mavericks that the Warriors faced recently. The Warriors point scoring is impressive, but defence is what truly win games.

The Spurs although short handed with arguably their best player missing in this one, have still been able to put up competitive scores with the line up they’ll be putting out tomorrow. Mills is a genuine 3 point threat and DeRozan has lifted back to All Star levels of his time in Toronto. Oubre and Wiggins are likely to seriously have their hands full with Derozan, while Patty Mills, White and Murray will all be working through Curry.

This market opened up with the Spurs a slight favourite, however it has sinced shifted to them now a slight underdog, and at just about even money the Spurs are worthy of a wager to keep a small winning streak continuing tonight.
