US Women’s Open
The LPGA play a big major, the US Women’s Open at a big course, the Olympic Club, in San Francisco, the venerable course designed by Sam Whiting and Willie Watson measure a supposedly short 7170 yards (6560m) par 72, CR 76.5 and a slope rating of 145. The women will play a course around 6300 yards, but the USGA have an evil bent and they have narrowed the fairways to path width and I believe that narrows potential winners to either very accurate drivers or bombers who can get closer and have shorter irons.
On Betfair, at odds I like
Jodie Ewart Shadoff-$190 Great ball striker
Amongst the favourites, I think Inbee Park is an each way special on Bet365 at $11, as she is the straightest on tour.
Lydia Ko-$16 is a definite chance
Patty Tavatanakit-$29 because she is exceptionally long
Hannah Green -$40 very accurate
Inbee Chun-$55 solid Korean player
Austin Ernst-$85 bobs up on tight courses.
This event will be survival of the fittest and Inbee Park is a warrior.
The PGA Tour go to Jack’s course Muirfield Village for the Memorial tournament. The course is 7392 yards (6759m) par 72 with a tough CR of 76.9 and a slope of 153.
Typically this is a test of striking and nerve.
I’ve got a few overs on Betfair
