Italian Open

Thursday night sees the start of the Italian Open at the Chervo Golf Club in San Vigilio di Pozzolengo, Brescia, Lombardy. The Kurt Rossknecht designed course is long enough at 6797m, 7398 yards par 72 which incorporates the Benaco and Solferino nines ( a par three course completes the complex).

LPGA Drive On Championship

The LPGA resume at the Drive On Championship at the Great Waters course at Reynolds Lake Oconee, Greensboro, Georgia not to be confused with Sam Snead’s home in Greeensboro, North Carolina.  Jack Nicklaus had a hand in this design, the course a 7436 yard (6828m) par 72, Slope for the men 143 and CR of 75.7. It’s hard to judge those stats for the LPGA who move tees around to suit the weather. The mini verde Bermuda greens and Tifway 419 Bermuda fairways are always in mint condition.

The market for the LPGA is often thin, but to be fair few rookies win at long prices.

At this stage I could only find

Jennifer Song-$36

Kristen Gillman -$75

That represented any value, but I might send out an additional few bets tomorrow afternoon as prices drift

Zozo Championship

The PGA Tour heads to another Jack Nicklaus course, the former home of the Sha4k Shootout at Sherwood Country Club in 1000 Oaks California. Target foot of the Santa Monica mountains the property gained its name for the use of the attached forest for the movie Robin Hood.

At 7098 yards par72 one would expect the course to be at the mercy of the long hitting PGA Tour pros, but it’s slope rating of 75.7 and CR of 146 belie that. This is the course that Kevin Na once fired a 16 on one hole.

The market is dominated by the leading players thus the outliers prices are attractive.
