Chester Manifold Stakes Race History
The race is named in honour of former VRC Chairman Sir Chester Manifold.
It was first run in 1985 when it was won by a horse called Beechcraft.
2022 was the first time it has been run on New Year’s Day.
In 2024 it was moved to Oaks Day in early November, meaning it was ran twice in 2024. The distance was increased from 1400m to 1600m.
