Our Mornington Horse Racing Tips for Saturday’s meeting.

Dom To Shoot (Mornington Race 6 No. 2)

Thought Dom To Shoot’s effort to finish fifth in the CS Hayes Stakes at Flemington two starts ago was very good.  Prior to that he was Group 1 placed in the Kingstown Classic.  Last start he disappointed in the Australian Guineas but that was in a much tougher contest than this.  If he can find anywhere near his best then he will be winning here.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Chapada (Mornington Race 7 No. 2):

Chapada won the Herbert Power Stakes by 1.2 lengths in October, then was far from disgraced in the Caulfield Cup.  He has had two runs back from a spell and was a nice effort when finishing third in the Australian Cup last start.  He is set to peak here third up and is proven at the distance.

$8.5

Best Lay

Mahashakti (Mornington Race 2 No. 8):

Mahashakti has come up as the early favourite in race two.  She has won four in a row and is a promising horse for the future but is now deep into her first racing preparation.  She is taking another huge step up in class here and looks short enough in early markets considering.

Key Comments There are 3 Listed races. The track is rated Soft and the rail is +3 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Exotique Miss (Eagle Farm Race 9 No. 2) She won the Listed Daybreak Lover last start to give her 2 wins from 2 starts this preparation. Even though she has the visitors draw of barrier 23 she looks good enough to win again. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way Blue

Key Comments The feature is the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic for fillies & mares (race 6). The track is Good and the rail is +5 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Siren Assault (Ascot Race 1 No. 1) This filly won 2 in a row before a game 5th in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate over 1200m here on 20th April. Provided she can handle the 7 day back-up she will be too good for this field. Check odds on SmartB Analyst:

Key Comments The rail is true. The track is in the soft range. The best bet is halfway through the day and surprised about the odds on offer for it still. Needs to lug weight but is a huge hope against this field. Best Bet Arctic Legend (Tamworth Race 5 No. 2) Steps up in grade but was nothing short of brilliant when resuming from a long break. Suited to this field. Should be able to go right on with things here and
