Wilmot Pass (Moonee Valley Race 6 No. 10)
This Rubick gelding has had three wins and two places from 8 starts. He resumed after a 22 week spell and was slowly away then got held up at the 200m and got going again late for 2.1 lengths 4th over 1000m at Caulfield on 27 June on soft going. He improved next start to join the lead at the 200m and did best in the last few strides for a narrow win over 1200m at Flemington on 18 July. He looks a great chance to bring up back-to-back wins.
Maximak (Moonee Valley Race 5 No. 6):
This five-year-old Smart Missile mare is very consistent and has 3 wins and 6 places from 12 starts. She sprinted to the front inside the 300m and was challenged at the 150m but held on for a narrow win over 1600m at Sandown Lakeside on 1 July, then she worked home strong out wide for 3 lengths, 0.1 length 3rd over 1400m at Flemington on 18 July. She has good form on soft going and looks a good each-way bet.
Polly Grey (Moonee Valley Race 7 No. 7):
This grey mare is the early favourite in this race over 2040m, and has improved at each of her three runs this campaign. She chased solidly for 4 lengths 2nd in the Listed Winter Championship Final over 1600m at Flemington on 4 July, then was slowly away, checked at the 400m and worked home for 1.7 lengths 5th over 2000m at Flemington on 18 July. There are many chances in this race and she does not look like value.
