Our Hobart Racing Tips for Tuesdays meeting.

Don’tbuckme Off (Hobart Race 5 No. 1)
John Luttrell  trains this five-year-old Wordsmith gelding who has five wins and seven places from 21 starts. He finished 0.5 length 2nd over 1200m at Hobart on 14 November, seeing the rest off easily, then surged clear for a 2 length win over 1200m at Hobart on 28 November. Has drawn the inside barrier and will be hard to beat.

Each Way

Gee Gees Punter (Hobart Race 4 No. 5):
This five-year-old Wordsmith gelding trained by Stuart Gandy has one win and 11 places from 28 starts. When resuming from a 28 week spell he only really got clear in the final 50m and finished 0.5 length 2nd over 1220m at Launceston on 22 October, then he ran on strongly out wide for a length 2nd over 1200m at Hobart on 28 November. Looks a great each-way hope again.

Gee Gees Punter Starion (Hobart Race 7 No. 2):
This three-year-old Dundeel gelding has one win and two places from five starts and is the early favourite in this Maiden/Class 1 over 1600m. He was a 0.5 length winner of a maiden plate over 1600m at Kilmore on 21 November, then finished 2 lengths 5th over 1430m at Hobart on 19 December. This race looks quite open and I’m prepared to risk him here.

Best Bet Deep Discretion (Northam Race 1 No. 9) She ran 3rd at Pinjarra last outing and is on the improve. Shoudn’t be a maiden much longer. Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Key Comments The best bet is in the first and was explosive on debut. Expecting all to have their chance on this track that usually plays fair. Best Bet What A Cross (Sale Race 1 No. 10) Big finale on debut and looms at likeable odds here. Was smacked in betting then and almost pulled off the plunge when flying to the line. Looks a huge chance here. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
