Horse Racing Tips : TAS Sunday 30th July 2023

Our Hobart Horse Racing Tips for Sunday’s meeting.

Key Comments

Track: Currently a Soft 5 but there’s a touch of rain on the forecast and some wind expected.

Rail: +9m (Previously in the +5m position)

Notes:

The 2022/2023 season comes to a close at Hobart, with the track holding up beautifully.

As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.

David Pires and Brendon McCoull provide a nice subplot for the meeting as they fight out the TAS Jockey’s Premiership.

Jockeys to follow:

Best Bet

Alvarinho (Hobart Race 6 No. 6):

Looks a class above these after a pleasing trip to Melbourne where running 2nd at Sandown. Tick-over trial was good enough to be winning here off a 70-day break.

$2.30

Best Each Way

Rodrick’s Secret (Hobart Race 7 No. 8):

Closed well last start when held up. Gets nice weight relief here and should get a kind run in behind the speed to factor in the finish.

$6.50/2.40

Best Lay

Lord Whitegate (Hobart Race 5 No. 6):

Strange preparation jumping out to this trip off a 1000m run. Didn’t think it was going as well as the market has it going. Happy to lay given the price.

Lay (WIN) at < $3.00
