Our Devonport Horse Racing Tips for Sunday.
Key Comments
Rail: True (Previously True)
Surface: All-Weather Turf (Synthetic)
Notes: The Devonport track races well and it should be relatively fair, but it’s worth noting that the rail hasn’t been a great place to be in recent times with wear and tear. Any notable bias will largely be tempo dependent. As this is a synthetic tapeta-based surface, weather has minimal effect on how it races.
As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.
Jockeys to follow:
– Brendon McCoull: 22.3%SR @ 10.3% POT @ Devonport
– Chloe Wells: 11.6%SR @ 6.8% POT @ Devonport
Trainers to follow:
– Glenn Stevenson: 15.8% SR @ 7.0% POT @ Devonport
– Graeme McCulloch: 8.9%SR @ 7.4% POT @ Devonport
Best Bet
Drinks At Vista (Devonport Race 4 No. 2):
Couldn’t have been more impressive in her Class 1 debut, winning by 5.3 lengths. Looks to get another good run on speed here and has given every indication she’ll relish the step out in trip to the mile, and possibly beyond. Brendon McCoull sticks and I think she’ll go 2 for 2 in TAS.
Best Each Way
Le Cadeau (Devonport Race 7 No. 3):
In a race where SHARMA’S LAST, on paper, looks hard to beat, I thought LE CADEAU could run a race at an each-way price. He’s been going well without winning and drops in grade here from open class company. Brooke Hanham’s claim has him right in contention at the weights and if he sees clear air late can let down sharply.
(backing on a 1×3 each-way basis)
Best Lay
Ikigai Katsumi (Devonport Race 2 No. 13):
Ran okay last start and finds a much more even race here. Drawn well for the in-form Trinder / Byrne Burke combination I think she will be overplayed in the market and am willing to lay on a place basis.
