Horse Racing Tips : TAS Sunday 1st October 2023

Our Devonport Horse Racing Tips for Sunday.

Key Comments

Rail: True (Previously True)
Surface: All-Weather Turf (Synthetic)

Notes: The Devonport track races well and it should be relatively fair, but it’s worth noting that the rail hasn’t been a great place to be in recent times with wear and tear. Any notable bias will largely be tempo dependent. As this is a synthetic tapeta-based surface, weather has minimal effect on how it races.

As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.

Jockeys to follow:
– Brendon McCoull: 22.3%SR @ 8.4% POT @ Devonport
– Erica Byrne Burke: 19.2%SR @ 9.3% POT @ Devonport

Trainers to follow:
– Glenn Stevenson: 15.7% SR @ 6.5% POT @ Devonport
– Angela Brakey: 12.9%SR @ 3.4% POT @ Devonport

Best Bet

Espur (Devonport Race 1 No. 3)

Has always shown some ability, but lacked on race day. She looks to have come back a more seasoned mare if her trial against Group 3 horse SIRENE STRYKER is anything to go by. Gets her chance vs a lot of well exposed opposition here.

$4.40

How to pick a winner

Best Each Way

Egao (Devonport Race 5 No. 8)

Resumed well for new trainer last start in a strong Class 2 contest, finishing 4.4L off the handy TEQUILA SPIRIT. Finds a very even race here where just about any of them could win with the right steer and at the price she looks to have been missed by the market. If Catherine Van Munster can find a position in the front third of the field, this mare can run an honest race and find her way into the money.

$21.00/5.00 (backing on an 1×4 each-way basis)

Best Lay

Chicane (Devonport Race 3 No. 1)

Anchored by his last start SP, CHICANE has gone up short again. Had every possible last start to run past winner CHORIZAMA who was well exposed and not going all that well, and didn’t. Think this is harder and MIHOKO TAKEO should be favourite.

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Saturday 18th January 2025

Key Comments The best bet was enormous on debut and looks poised to make it back to back wins. On pace runners suited on this track historically. Best Bet Electric Tommy (Cranbourne Race 5 No. 7) Big win on debut and looks very hard to beat resuming from a spell. Bit of a market drift in early markets however maps for a dream run from barrier 3 and finds a highly suitable field. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
