Our Devonport Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

Boom Dot Com (Devonport Race 6 No. 3)/ Rebel Factor (Devonport Race 6 No. 5)

Think this is a race in two, despite FREELANCER likely coming up short. I can’t have it. Keen to be with both BOOM DOT COM and REBEL FACTOR.

BOOM DOT COM resumed in an unsuitable race on a wet deck at Launny and really found the line. Gets a 10L jockey switch here, and gets to a trip she relishes (~1400m). I think she can land a touch handier in-run and be rattling home late.

REBEL FACTOR is the other runner worth having on side. Doubt we’ll get a price given its enormous run last start, where it was backed off the map and produced a massive figure. Will likely sit last and be the strongest late.

If I can back both runners I’ll be collecting/breaking square on the race.

BACK Boom Dot Com for 1 unit at $6.00+

BACK Rebel Factor for 0.5 units at $3.00+

How to pick a winner

Next Best

Prophet Eyes (Devonport Race 3 No. 5)

Thought there was merit in the debut performance of PROPHET EYES. He went round at a moderate quote, but loved the way he settled into a position from a terrible alley and still managed to find the line (albeit beaten to the post by Gaudi Girl). This race rated well and Gaudi Girl has run well since up in grade, Chelsea Baker sticks and now drawn inside, she could lob PE in a beautiful spot up on speed.

BACK Prophet Eyes for 1 unit at $5.00+

Best Each Way

Cornelian Bay (Devonport Race 2 No. 2) & Sakura Hime (Devonport Race 2 No. 9)

Of the unraced brigade I didn’t mind the trial of two runners. SAKURA HIME travelled beautifully throughout and put them away late, but avg pilot booked – may be worth a pickle EW at a price? Lovely action. Also liked how CORNELIAN BAY quickened late when asked in its second trial, senior pilot straight on – maybe wants further?

BACK Cornelian Bay (if > $7) / Sakura Hime (if > $10) (Back both for 0.5 units WIN)

Race Analysis

Back on God’s carpet for 8 of the best. Last meeting here was a bit strange with the inside somehow not being the place to be (bizarre). Treading lightly early and hopefully launch at a couple late.

R1 1150m Rest 60 HCP

Not really keen to bet here in a small field.

TILTHEREWARSYOU and BETHPAGE look the most likely winners.

R2 1150m Maiden

BORN A WINNER has been gelded and comes out of a good race behind Jaguar Stone and has trialled well enough on resumption. MADJACK ran okay behind Vokes last start gaining late ground, but was beaten pretty comfortably – would have loved to have seen a jockey switch. MISS VIVACE comes out of the same race, making ground in the worse going, would want her up in trip before backing.

Super keen to play here.

Tricky little race here, with a few unreliable horses all doing battle. 1,2,4,7 can all win without surprising.

I have ALPINE AVIATOR favourite and is the best horse in the race, no question… but he’s a bit of a chocolates or boiled lollies type operator. Take on trust. I like him staying at the trip on a freshen, and he cops a nice jockey upgrade. If he’s at his best he should be winning.

BARJEEL comes back from a visit to Royal Pakenham where he ran super when unwanted by the market. He finds an easier task here and with the claim gets in nicely for this grade. Worth noting Lauryn Bingley (although a new 4kg apprentice) rides him in track work. Will be the one to watch late. ZEVA ROYALE and ALINE BLAST can also run well. ZEVA ROYALE is worth forgiving and if she returns to the form of her previous two runs she’ll be fighting out the finish. ALPINE BLAST retains the guidance of Siggy Carr and is suited at the trip.

R8 1150m Class 1

Pretty yuck race to finish.

GEE GEES SO TRUE went super last start in a race that rated well. Drops to 57kg and could lead or box seat from barrier 2. If he can hold his form or improve he’ll be tough to beat. Box ticker.

BYNANCE is the other runner of interest. I’ve got some time for this horse. Always seems to run well, particularly fresh and could be in a lovely spot behind the speed here. Only issue is the camp can only be taken on trust, particularly the bloke steering. If we get a price she’s worth something.

Not sure what to do here to be honest, so I’ll bet late, if at all. BACK Gee Gees So True at $3.00+

BACK Bynance at $12.00+
