Our Devonport Horse Racing Tips for Monday.

Best Bet

Quicken Up (Devonport Race 7 No. 8):

Pretty keen to follow up on this filly for Rowan Hamer back on her home track. She’s returned super and arguably should have won l/s when being knocked off by in-form MOVE ON OVER (who has since gone close to winning again on Good Friday). Hope Erica Byrne Burke takes a sit in behind the speed of ETOSHA and HANNAH’S SONG, and peels out at the top of the straight and proves too good late. I’ll likely keep ETOSHA on-side and a winning result on the race also.

How to pick a winner

Best Each Way

Squazeemoto (Devonport Race 2 No. 6):

Sticking with the Rowan Hamer theme. SQUAZEEMOTO finds a fairly weak maiden to finally break through. He should lead throughout at a good clip and if Ismail can essentially ride him like a stolen car and catch a break on the turn he should be mighty hard to run down. Keen to be against favourite NO ACCESS who’s on the 3-day back up from Good Friday’s meeting and will be kept safe in the market with Siggy Carr jumping back on for the John Blacker trained gelding.

$5.50

Best Lay

Seydoux (Devonport Race 1 No. 8):

Ironic that during the easter break there could be a miracle take place… ELMAJAY breaking her maiden. She finally gets a run at 1009m on a fast track, and I think she should be able to last. For that to happen I need odds-on favourite for the deadly McCoull/Trinder duo to go under, so I may as well make her my lay of the day. Admittedly hard to go against her form and pilot/trainer combo but I think if she’s going to be vulnerable this preparation it’ll be 1st up at 1009m.
