Our Warwick Farm Horse Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.

Kutayha (Warwick Farm Race 3 No. 1):
This four-year-old Savabeel gelding trained by Chris Waller has two wins and five places from eight starts. He chased hard to prevail in the latter stages for a 0.4 length win over 1900m at Canterbury on 27 November, then was bumped between the 250m and 200m before finishing 0.8, 0.2 length 3rd over 1900m at Canterbury on 11 December. Has drawn the inside barrier and looks the leading hope.

Strawb (Warwick Farm Race 7 No. 8):
This five-year-old Fastnet Rock mare trained by Nathan Doyle at Newcastle has four wins and a place from 9 starts. She resumed from a 17 week spell for 8 lengths 11th over 14oom at Newcastle on 14 November where she was vetted at the barrier, raced keenly and was slow to recover, then was slowly away and had to circle 5 wide on the turn and kept coming gamely for 1.3 lengths 2nd over 1300m at Warwick Farm on 9 December. She has won on soft and heavy going and looks a solid each-way chance.

Best Lay

Shaik (Warwick Farm Race 5 No. 10):
This Sebring filly from the Hawkes stable is the early favourite in this BM 72 fillies and mares handicap over 1100m. At the end of last campaign she didn’t seem to like the heavy going when 9.5 lengths 6th in the Listed The Rosebud over 1100m at Rosehill on 8 August before spelling. She resumed for 0.3 length 2nd over 1000m at Kembla Grange on 28 November when favourite and doesn’t give value here.

Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Key Comments The best bet is in the first and was explosive on debut. Expecting all to have their chance on this track that usually plays fair. Best Bet What A Cross (Sale Race 1 No. 10) Big finale on debut and looms at likeable odds here. Was smacked in betting then and almost pulled off the plunge when flying to the line. Looks a huge chance here. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
