Our Port Macquarie Horse Racing Tips for Tuesdays meeting.

Black Jacamar (Port Macquarie Race 4 No. 4)
This three-year-old Dream Ahead filly trained by Kim Waugh at Wyong has started her career well with two wins and a place from three starts. At her 2nd start she levelled up at the turn and kept going for a 0.8 length win over 1000m at Kempsay on 6 November before spelling. She resumed after 25 weeks to lead all the way for a 0.8 length win over 1007m at Taree on soft going on 3 May. Going for the hat-trick of wins here and will be very hard to beat.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Greenskeeper (Port Macquarie Race 6 No. 5):
This five-year-old Redoubte’s Choice gelding trained by Nathan Doyle at Newcastle has two wins and 10 places from 21 starts. He resumed from a 13 week break for 2.2 8 lengths 6th over 1106m at Port Macquarie on 3 April, then reached the front at the 250m but was overpowered in the final 100m for 0.48, 2.22 lengths 3rd over 1412m at Taree on 3 May. Fitter now he has won at this track and distance combination and looks a good each-way bet.

Best Lay

Moonhawk (Port Macquarie Race 7 No. 9):
This four-year-old Moonlark gelding has two wins and eight places from 19 starts and is the early favourite in this BM 58 handicap over 1100m. He peeled three wide in the straight and chased evenly for 2.09 length 7th over 1100m at Armidale on 13 April, then was checked and untested in the straight when 6.96 lengths 9th over 1007m at Taree on 3 May. He was unlucky last start but represents no value in this field.

Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Key Comments The best bet is in the first and was explosive on debut. Expecting all to have their chance on this track that usually plays fair. Best Bet What A Cross (Sale Race 1 No. 10) Big finale on debut and looms at likeable odds here. Was smacked in betting then and almost pulled off the plunge when flying to the line. Looks a huge chance here. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
