Our Newcastle Horse Racing Tips for Tuesdays meeting.

Henschel (Newcastle Race 7 No. 1)
This four-year-old Smart Missile gelding trained by Allan Denham at Wyong has five wins and four places from 17 starts. He was an impressive 3.03 length winner over 1200m at Newcastle on 22 April where he took over at the 250m and raced away, then was far from disgraced when 3rd over 1200m at Gosford at the stand-alone Saturday meeting on 8 May. He has a 3kg claim and looks a leading chance.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Recondite (Newcastle Race 6 No. 5):
This five-year-old gelding resumes here after a long 45 week spell. He fought on strongly to win a maiden plate over 1400m at Kembla Grange on a heavy track on 13 June, then fought on strongly for a narrow win in a Class 1 handicap over 1500m at Newcastle on 4 July. Has been trialling and was 0.4 length 2nd in a Rosehill trail on a heavy track on 11 May. Should be ready to go first-up and looks worth an each-way bet.

Best Lay

Wicklow (Newcastle Race 6 No. 9):
This three-year-old Twilight Son gelding trained by Chris Waller has two places from three starts overseas and is the early favourite in this maiden plate over 1600m. He is having his first Australian start after 3rd over 1678m at Nottingham then 3rd over 1609 m at Newbury in October. Has drawn wide and doesn’t offer value at the short price.

$3.00

Horse Racing Tips: SA Sunday 19th May 2024

Key Comments The track is rated Good and the rail is in the true position. Best Bet Geeijo (Strathalbyn Race 2 No. 7) Did a lot wrong before making late ground for 4th at Murray Bridge when fresh. Was runner-up at Gawler at his only second-up attempt and looks well-placed here. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way Little Rich Boy (Strathalbyn Race 8 No. 4) Won by over 4 lengths at Gawler 2

Horse Racing Tips: QLD Sunday 19th May 2024

Key Comments The track is rated Heavy and the rail is +8 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Slippin' Jimmy (Sunshine Coast Race 2 No. 1) Last start winner over 1200m at Kilcoy and has won at Sunshine Coast before. Has drawn the inside barrier and should be hard to beat. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way Merchant Flyer (Sunshine Coast Race 8 No. 5) He made ground late for a 1.3 length

Horse Racing Tips: TAS Sunday 19th May 2024

Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Best Bet Weldborough (Devonport Race 9 No. 3) Won by 2.5 lengths over

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Sunday 19th May 2024

Key Comments The best bet is in the first and looks awfully hard to beat the short quote. The track has been favouring those on speed lately. Best Bet Coffin Dodger (Sale Race 1 No. 2) So hard to beat here off the back of 2 superb runs. The latest they put a huge gap on third and will not get a better chance to break maiden than this. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
