Tailleur (Rosehill Race 8 No. 10)
This Shooting to Win mare from the Godolphin stable has only had three starts, but has won two of them. She resumed from a spell with a narrow win over 1100m at Randwick on 4 July where she ran the best overall race sectionals on the heavy track, then she finished 2.3 lengths 2nd over 1100m at Kensington on 18 July where the rider dropped a rein at the 250m. She has the ability to win again here.
Total Recall (Rosehill Race 3 No. 13):
The Highway races are always hard to rate and this one is no exception. This Animal Kingdom gelding trained by Paul Messara at Scone has not raced in the city before but has performed well at all five of his starts. He came from well back and was held up approaching the turn before making good ground for 3.4 lengths 4th over 1300m at Scone on 10 July. Next start he took over soon after straightening and burst away fora 2.7 length win over 1600m at Scone on 19 July. He has drawn nicely in barrier 3 and looks an each-way chance.
Valdostana (Rosehill Race 9 No. 9):
This Snitzel mare is the early favourite in this BM 78 Handicap over 1200m. She finished last campaign with a 0.5 length win over 1200m at Canterbury Park on 28 February. She resumed for 0.2 length 2nd over 1100m at Warwick Farm on 8 July, where she took over at the 200m but was caught late. She drops 4kg from that run but this is a tougher race and I don’t think she can win.
